Discovering Nigeria’s IT Talent Amidst the Global Talent Shortage

According to a survey of over 4,500 Africans between the ages of 18 and 24, 52% of them are likely to consider emigrating within the next few years – and many have already started. This mass migration of highly skilled individuals is called the “brain drain”.

What’s causing the brain drain?

There are 600,000 Nigerians graduating from universities every year with skills in IT, engineering, business, and management, but these talent pools are untapped. With few companies running operations out of Africa due to misconceptions or a general lack of knowledge of the continents’ ICT capabilities, these talented individuals eager to put their skills to work are moving to other locations with greater opportunities for employment.

However, these young professionals shouldn’t have to leave behind their families and communities in search of better opportunities. Global companies, like Tek Experts, have experienced great success operating technical services and support teams out of Nigeria and other African nations.

Read these key takeaways from our Tek Experts Nigeria Country Manager, Olugbolahan Olusanya, who participated in Business Day’s CEO Forum 2022 to see why Nigeria could be a solution for companies experiencing the effects of the global talent shortage.

Plus, see why it’s vital that more companies utilize the robust IT talent pool and capabilities in Nigeria and the rest of the continent.
